Oncology III

Mammary & Urogenital, Endocrine, Respiratory & High-Impact Tumours

Course Overview

Oncology III builds on the familiar framework introduced in Oncology I & II, extending it to tumour entities that are frequently encountered in daily small animal practice. This includes mammary tumours, transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), nasal tumours, and endocrine neoplasia, as well as clinically important tumours of the thoracic cavity, eye, ear, and CNS.

We teach a structured clinical decision pathway across organ systems. Each entity is approached in an integrated manner, combining tumour biology, diagnostics, staging, and treatment into one logical workflow.

Clinical Reality vs. Gold Standard

While advanced treatment for tumours in complex locations may not always be feasible in general practice, a deep understanding of these diseases remains essential. This course empowers you to guide clients with authority—providing clear insights into referral pathways, realistic treatment options, and evidence-based prognosis, ensuring the best possible outcome for the patient regardless of the clinical setting.

This course is designed to help you answer exactly these questions:

What is it likely to be? (Clinical & biological suspicion)
How far has it progressed? (Pragmatic staging)
What can I realistically do in my clinic—and when should I refer? (Treatment & Decision-making)

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Master High-Frequency Cases: Confidently manage the most common challenges in daily practice, including mammary tumours, bladder carcinomas (TCC), and endocrine neoplasia.
• Navigate Complex Sites: Apply surgical oncology principles and “Go/No-Go” and “Stay/Refer” decision-making to anatomically challenging locations such as the thoracic cavity.
• Develop realistic, case-based treatment plans combining surgery, medical therapy, and radiotherapy where appropriate
Lead with Authority: Provide clients with clear, evidence-based insights into referral pathways, realistic treatment options, and prognosis—ensuring the best possible outcome regardless of your clinical setting.

This course is designed for:

• Veterinarians who have completed Oncology I (and ideally II) and want to work confidently with high-impact internal and epithelial tumours
• General practitioners dealing with mammary masses, urinary tract tumours, nasal disease, and endocrine syndromes in daily practice
• Surgeons managing oncologic soft tissue, glandular, and abdominal procedures
• Clinicians working in real-world settings where decisions must be made despite limited diagnostics or time constraints
• Clinicians who want to confidently guide clients through oncologic cases, providing clear decision pathways and evidence-

Topics

  • Mammary tumours: clinical approach, staging, and treatment plannin
  • Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC): diagnosis and practical management strategies
  • Nasal tumours: clinical work-up and decision pathways
  • Endocrine tumours: systemic clinical effects and paraneoplastic syndromes
  • Ocular, auricular, and CNS tumours (selected clinically relevant entities)
  • Intrathoracic tumours: diagnostic approach and clinical management
  • Electrochemotherapy and modern radiotherapy techniques
  • Interactive case-based decision-making sessions
