Course Overview
By the end of this 3-day course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand and Explain Tumour Biology
– Describe the biological behaviour of common bone, joint, muscle, and peripheral nerve
sheath tumours
– Recognise tumour-specific characteristics that influence surgical decisions, including
invasion patterns, metastatic potential, and recurrence risk
2. Develop Surgical Planning and Execution Skills
– Evaluate indications for various implant-less limb-sparing procedures, such as ulnectomies
and scapulectomies, know their advantages and limitations and execute them
– Plan and perform large tumour resections of the pelvis and body walls by hemipelvectomy,
chest and abdominal wall resections
– Have a clear understanding of limb-sparing options, know how to make a choice on a caseto-
case basis and perform the procedure
– Plan and execute the resection of peripheral nerve sheath tumours invading the spinal canal
– Deal with challenging tumours of the extremities
