Anatomic Pathologist

Education and Experience

– Veterinary degree from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona 2002
– Fellowship in comparative ocular pathology, Comparative Ocular Pathology Laboratory of Wisconsin (COPLOW) 2006-2007.
– Residency in anatomic pathology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2007-2010.
– Diplomate of the ACVP 2010
– Diplomat of the ECVP 2011.
– PhD in Veterinary Sciences, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2011.

Georg graduated from the Veterinary University of Vienna in 2006, where he also completed a rotating small animal internship and a three-year ECVS approved residency program in small animal surgery. 2015 Georg moved to UK and worked as a specialist small animal surgeon in international renowned referral centers (Animal Health Trust, Dick White Referrals). In 2018 Georg returned back to Austria where he is CEO and head surgeon of a busy referral centre. Beside his clinical work, Georg has published articles in peer reviewed journals and has lectured and been invited as a speaker at numerous conferences and CPD courses at national and international level.

Teaching Experience

– Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona 2003-2006: ophthalmology labs, surgery labs. 2011-2012: histology labs.
– University of Wisconsin: necropsy rotations, anatomic pathology labs, lectures in anatomic pathology (ocular pathology). 2007-2010. o
– Universidad Complutense de Madrid: necropsy labs, anatomic pathology labs, lectures in ocular pathology, bone and muscle pathology. 2011-2015.
– Lecturer of the William Magrane Basic Science in Ophthalomology course.
– Multiple lectures in national and international venues.

Research

PhD in Veterinary Sciences 2003-2006: Histopathological, immunohistochemical and molecular characterization of ocular and adnexal involvement in canine leishmaniosis.
Collaborative research with topics related to ocular pathology.

Awards

– Extraordinaro Bachelor’s Award, Vet School, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2002 (award given to the best 3 students of the year).
– Award to the best oral presentation in ECVO, 2004.
– CL Davis Foundation Award for Student Scholarship 2010.
