Management success in cytology – case oriented approach
In the 5 sessions of this online series, numerous cytology cases will be presented with a clinical approach. The Program Director Dr. Francesco Cian (Dipl. ECVCP), Dr. Paola Monti (Dipl. ACVP) and Dr Chiara Leo (Dipl. ACVIM) will share their expertise, so that the participants can use it in their daily practice.
The full series consists of 5 online case discussion sessions, each of 90 minutes. The cases will be released in advance as a PDF or PP and will be interactively discussed in a live format. An open forum will be set up for any questions and discussion for 1 week after each session. Depending on the availability, a few selected cases from the participants will also be discussed. The number of participants is limited to provide optimal interaction.
Cytology, Session 1
Cytology, Session 1
Navigating skin cytology: clinical case studies
The skin is the organ often affected by pathological processes and is frequently sampled for cytological examination. In this webinar, several cytological entities of varying difficulty will be discussed.
Learning Outcomes:
After the webinar, participants will be able to approach skin cytology, draft a comprehensive cytology report and will be exposed to some frequent and some not-so-common skin diseases.

Tackling the complexity of lymphoid system cytology: clinical case studies
Lymph nodes and lymphoid organs in general are often involved in various pathological processes, in particular lymphoma. Cytological evaluation is essential for diagnosis and can often be performed in-house. In this webinar, a series of cytology cases of variable difficulty related to lymphoid tissues will be shared, highlighting the complexities and challenges encountered.
Learning Outcomes:
After the webinar, participants will be able to approach the cytology of the lymph tissues and formulate comprehensive cytology reports on lymphoproliferative disorders.

Head tumors: highlighting the often-overlooked cytological cases
Tumors of the head often pose a diagnostic challenge and include some uncommon conditions whose cytological appearances are not always well described or familiar to many. In this webinar, we will analyse several cases of both common and rare head tumors in dogs and cats, aiming to assess their cytological characteristics.
Learning Outcomes:
After the webinar, participants will be able to identify and approach cytology cases of head tumors, including rare neoplasms and uncommon clinical presentations.

Let’s take a look inside: cytology cases of internal organs
Cytology of internal organs poses a unique diagnostic challenge, as it is less frequently performed in practice and is often less standardized than other cytological samples. Accurate evaluation requires a keen understanding of the complexities involved. In this webinar, we will delve into various cytology cases from internal organs, highlighting the diagnostic hurdles and the importance of microscopic analysis.
Learning Outcomes:
After the webinar, participants will be able to effectively approach internal organ cytology cases, understanding the nuances of microscopic analysis, and produce well-informed cytology reports to guide clinical decision-making.

Oncologist and Cytologist: A Collaborative Approach
Overview: In this talk, we will present and discuss a selection of clinical cases, examining them from both diagnostic and therapeutic perspectives. The focus will be on the critical exchange between the oncologist and the cytologist, specifically addressing what each specialist seeks from the other to guide optimal patient management. Additionally, we will delve into cytology reporting, with a special emphasis on how to craft insightful and clear comments that enhance communication and decision-making in clinical practice.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this talk, participants will be able to effectively integrate diagnostic insights from cytology into oncological decision-making and improve the clarity and clinical relevance of cytology report comments.
