Current Position

Head of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Diagnostica Piccoli Animali (VI)

Education and Experience

In 2001, he graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Perugia. Until 2003, he worked as a private practitioner between Umbria and Tuscany, collaborating with the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Perugia. From 2004 to 2007, he completed his residency in Neurology at the Valdinievole Veterinary Clinic (PT), with Dr. Massimo Baroni. In 2006, he took continuing education trips abroad and in 2007, he passed the exam in Bern, graduating from the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN). Since 2004, he has been a member of the European Society of Veterinary Neurology (ESVN) and the Italian Society of Veterinary Neurology (SINVet), of which he was president from 2017 to 2021 and is currently past president. He was also a member of the examination committee of the European College of Veterinary Neurology from 2020 to 2023. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a neurologist at the Valdinievole Veterinary Clinic, with a particular interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applied to neurology. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as a clinical neurologist and neurosurgeon at the Davies Veterinary Specialists referral center in the United Kingdom. Since 2012, he has worked as a referring neurologist and neurosurgeon at the Diagnostica Piccoli Animali clinic (VI) and at the Vet-Rad clinic in Florence, of which he is also a founding member. He also works as an external consultant for several Italian neurological centers. He has published in national and international veterinary neurology journals, is co-author of the book “Spinal Pathologies of Dogs and Cats” and author of chapters on neurology in the books “Cancer,” “Canine Neurology,” and “Current Veterinary Therapy XV.” He is an expert speaker at numerous conferences worldwide, with a focus on neurodiagnostics, especially with reference to magnetic resonance, and neurosurgery. He is currently vice president of the Italian Society of Companion Animals (SCIVAC).
