Current Position

Professor and Head of the Small Animal Surgery service at VetAgroSup, Veterinary School of Lyon, France.

Education and Experience

Guillaume received a Diplôme d’Etat de Docteur Vétérinaire (DEDV) from the Veterinary School of Toulouse, France, in 1998. He subsequently trained and worked at the Veterinary School of Lyon, France and at North Carolina State University, USA (2000-06) where he was appointed Assistant Professor in Soft Tissue Surgery (2006-11). He then joined the University of Bristol, UK, and the Langford Vets Referral Hospital (the largest referral hospital of the southwest of England), as a Senior Lecturer, Soft Tissue Surgeon, Educator and Researcher until 2022 when he was appointed Professor of Veterinary Surgery at VetAgroSup, Veterinary School of Lyon, France.

Teaching Experience

Intramural Teaching: Participation in theoretical teaching, practices and clinics of the discipline of Surgical Pathology and Technique (soft tissue surgery) in initial training of veterinary studies, postgraduate training (interns and residents) and continuing education. Supervision of 25 residents (2010-2024) and 12 graduates (interns – master students) – tutor of 7-9 students /year- mentor from 1 to 2 interns/year and one surgery resident / 3years ; Responsibility and organization of rotations Soft tissue Surgery clinics for veterinary students, nurses veterinarians and interns. responsible for the practial and theoritical assessments of students

Extramural Teaching: Participation in continuing education organized by other academic institutions , through associative and professional structures or by industrialists or laboratories. 450+ national conferences and international (Incl. 20 posters) -45 conferences (Guest / invited / keynote speaker or Chairs)

2014 : Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Guillaume likes disruptive teaching and promotes engagement of the audience.

Research

Authors of 100+ peer reviewed publications with 65+% of publications on veterinary and comparative cardiothoracic and vascular / interventionnal surgery
