Course Overview

Welcome to the ESAVS Focus On Course: Advanced Esophageal and Gastric Surgery
This advanced-level course is designed for veterinary surgeons aiming to deepen their knowledge and refine their surgical skills in the field of esophageal and gastric surgery in dogs. As part of the ESAVS Focus On series, it offers an intensive and specialized training experience, combining in-depth lectures with hands-on wet labs.
Participants will explore complex surgical approaches to the esophagus and stomach, from anatomical considerations to advanced reconstructive techniques. Emphasis will be placed on procedures such as pyloroplasty, pylorectomy, gastrectomy, and the surgical management of hiatal hernias, as well as the use of muscle flaps in esophageal surgery.
Through expert-led lectures and practical training in small groups (2 persons per table), this course will help you build confidence in performing these challenging procedures and understanding their indications, limitations, and outcomes.
Whether you are preparing for specialization or seeking to expand your capabilities in soft tissue surgery, this course offers valuable insights and practical experience tailored to your professional goals.
This course is designed for veterinary surgeons interested in advanced soft tissue surgery. Participants should have a strong surgical background, demonstrated by their previous participation to ESAVS soft tissue surgery courses or equivalent training. Certificate and master’s degree holders, as well as ECVS and ACVS residents are warmly invited to participate.
