Education and Experience
Dr. Schmidt graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover, Germany, in 2002. Following this, he pursued a doctoral degree in Vascular Biology & Tumour Angiogenesis and subsequently completed an ECVIM-CA residency in small animal oncology in the United Kingdom at VRCC. Since 2010 he has been an EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Oncology (Diplomate ECVIM-CA (oncology)) and a German Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Schmidt serves as a senior consultant oncologist and head of the residency program in medical oncology at the Veterinary Clinic Hofheim in Hofheim, Germany. He is the Programme Director of the ESAVS Oncology Certificate and Master’s Program.
Teaching Experience
Dr. Schmidt lectures globally on small animal oncology and cytology but also on conflict management & communication. He designed and established several highly successful seminars ranging from 1-30 days duration.
Research
Dr. Schmidt co-authored several oncology textbooks and various publications in peer-reviewed journals (e.g. Veterinary & Comparative Oncology, Journal of Small Animal Practice, Animals, etc)
Other
Dr. Schmidt also holds an M.A. in mediation and conflict management and offers part-time services as a coach, corporate trainer, and healthcare mediator specializing in conflict management and communication skills, helping professionals navigate emotionally charged situations.
