SUMMARY:Dermatology\, Session 6
DESCRIPTION:Canine leishmaniosis. – Dr. Manolis Saridomichelakis\nCanine leishmaniosis due to Leishmania infantum is highly endemic in South Europe but is gradually expanding northwards and imported cases are occasionally witnessed even in northern countries. The non-specific clinical presentation\, that may include one or multiple different types of skin lesions\, ocular and systemic signs\, the long list of differentials and the frequent reliance on serology as a stand-alone diagnostic test can lead to both overdiagnosis and underdiagnosis. Furthermore\, treatment monitoring and the decision for treatment discontinuation is very complicated. \nLearning outcomes:\nRational diagnosis\, treatment and monitoring of dogs with leishmaniosis based on current guidelines \n

SUMMARY:Emergency & Critical care\, Session 8
DESCRIPTION:Fluid Therapy in Anuric/Polyuric Patients\nManaging fluid therapy in anuric or oliguric patients poses a unique challenge. While fluids are often the cornerstone of stabilization\, inappropriate administration in these patients can quickly worsen their condition and lead to life-threatening complications. The emergency clinician must therefore balance the need for circulatory support with the risk of fluid overload.\nIn this case-based webinar we will discuss how to assess volume status\, how to distinguish between pre-renal\, renal\, and post-renal causes\, and how to guide fluid therapy accordingly. Special emphasis will be placed on setting appropriate fluid rates\, recognizing early signs of fluid overload\, and knowing when to move beyond fluid therapy to advanced interventions such as diuretics or renal replacement therapy.\nCase examples will highlight the decision-making process and the practical challenges clinicians face when tailoring therapy to these fragile patients. \nLearning outcome:\nAfter this webinar\, participants will be able to recognize anuric and oliguric states in dogs and cats\, assess the underlying cause\, and implement safe\, individualized fluid therapy strategies while minimizing the risk of fluid overload and secondary complications. \n

SUMMARY:Feline Medicine\, Session 5
DESCRIPTION:Talking about kidney disease\nIt is probably the most important disease in cats: chronic kidney disease? But is it always renal disease if you detect azotaemia on the blood work? And when can we classify a renal azotaemia as chronic kidney disease. How to differentiate from acute disease? And what about acute on chronic? Let`s find answers to all of these questions.\nAim:\n– Be able to differentiate pre-renal\, renal and postrenal azotaemia\n– Learn how to find out whether it is acute or chronic kidney disease\n– Take home some treatment guidelines for chronic kidney disease during different stages (early kidney disease\, acute on chronic disease\, advanced kidney disease)\nPreparation material:\n• Introductory video on how to differentiate pre-renal\, renal and post-renal azotaemia\n• Introductory video on how to differentiate acute from chronic disease\nLive workshop:\nRico\, Ruby\, Wilma\, Pim and some others will teach you how to differentiate pre-renal\, renal and post-renal azotaemia and how to classify renal azotaemia as acute\, chronic or acute on chronic. And once we have found out which of them have chronic kidney disease we need to talk about treatment options and the differences in the management of early vs advanced chronic kidney disease. \n

SUMMARY:Feline Medicine\, Session 6
DESCRIPTION:Feline endocrinology secrets unravelled – Part 2: D. mellitus\, acromegaly\, Cushing`s syndrome\nDiagnosing diabetes mellitus is not causing a problem in most cases. It usually gets difficult if the treatment response is not exactly what we would have wished it to be. We will look into monitoring of diabetic patients and possible reasons for insufficient treatment response. The focus will be on potentially underlying endocrinopathies such as acromegaly and Cushing`s syndrome. However\, new treatment options such as the SGLT-2 inhibitors will be discussed as well.\nPreparation material:\n• Short introduction on how to read glucose curves\n• Short introduction on SGLT-2 inhibitors\nLive workshop:\nSeveral short cases are presented in a quizze format asking you to provide answers using the knowledge you gained about glucose curves and SGLT-2 inhibitors. As soon as we have solved the most important issues around these two topics a case with acromegaly and another one with Cushing`s syndrome need to be worked up more extensively by you and you need to decide on how to treat them. \n

SUMMARY:Dermatology\, Session 9
DESCRIPTION:Fungal skin diseases. – Dr. Chiara Noli\nThere are several fungal diseases\, the most common ones are caused by dermatophytes usually growing on hair or skin keratin. Other less common usually saprophytic fungi can grow in the subcutis\, particularly in inmmumocompromised animals\, while others cause systemic infections. Many of these fungal agents are zoonotic and should be well identified and treated to avoid contamination. \nLearning outcomes:\nRational diagnosis\, treatment and monitoring of dogs with dermatopytosis\, subcutaneous or systemic fungal diseases \n

SUMMARY:Feline Medicine\, Session 7
DESCRIPTION:Feline lower urinary tract disease – a never ending story…\nA common presentation in daily praxis. The cat with idiopathic cystitis – or shall we better say „stress induced feline lower urinary tract syndrome“? Aren`t thea all stress-induced? Even those with crystalluria\, urolthiasis and secondary bacterial infection? Let`s talk about the different presentations of FLUTD and how to deal with them.\nAims:\n– Implement guidelines for a severly sick\, hyperkalaemic\, obstructed tom cat\n– Find out about tips and tricks for catheterization\n– Learn how to do a decompressive cystocentesis\n– Become familiar with urinary sediment findings (focus: crystalluria)\n– Develop guidlines fot the management of stress induced feline lower urinary tract syndrome\nPreparation material:\n• Reading material: Background information on FLUTD etiopathogenesis\n• Reading material: Treating stress induced feline lower urinary tract syndrome + multimodal environmental modification\nLive workshop:\nOne case that is severly hyperkalaemic – why catherization is not necessarily the first thing to do and what needs to be done.\nOne case that cannot be catheterized – how to proceed if it is getting difficult. Includes a cystocentesis workshop.\nOne case that has got urolithiasis – what to do. Includes a quiz on crystalluria and on radiographic detection of urolithiasis in more locations than just the urinary bladder\nOne case that is being presented with recurrent episodes – which measures do we need to focus on if it comes to prevention and stress management? Let`s bring our knowledge together. \n

SUMMARY:Cytology Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Cytology: The Questions Everyone Asks\nLecturer: Dr. Francesco Cian\nOverview:\nEvery clinician who performs cytology eventually finds themselves asking the same questions when approaching this discipline: Why my samples are often non diagnostic? Can I really diagnose a mast cell tumour with Diff-Quik – and can I grade it? Why are aspirates from lipomas so often acellular? Can cytology reliably predict malignancy? In this session\, we will tackle the most common doubts that arise when a needle meets a slide. \nFrom sampling techniques and smear quality to the diagnosis of lymphoma\, septic effusions\, and mesenchymal proliferations\, we will explore what cytology can reliably answer – and where its limitations lie. \nA session dedicated to the practical questions clinicians face every day when performing cytology.

SUMMARY:Cytology\, Session 4
DESCRIPTION:Inside the Marrow: Diagnostic Bone Marrow Cases in Clinical Practice\nBone marrow evaluation is a critical diagnostic step when peripheral blood findings fail to fully explain a patient’s clinical picture. Interpretation of bone marrow samples requires a structured approach and careful integration of cytologic findings with clinical information\, hematologic data\, and histologic evaluation of core biopsy specimens. In this webinar\, we will work through a series of clinical cases illustrating common diagnostic challenges encountered during bone marrow evaluation in dogs and cats. Particular emphasis will be placed on recognizing cytologic patterns of disease\, correlating cytologic findings with core biopsy histology\, and understanding how ancillary diagnostics such as PCR-based testing\, PARR\, flow cytometry\, and immunohistochemistry can refine the final diagnosis. \nLearning Outcomes:\nAfter the webinar\, participants will be able to: \n-Apply a structured approach to the interpretation of bone marrow cytology.\n-Recognize key cytologic patterns associated with important marrow disorders.\n-Understand the complementary roles of cytology\, core biopsy histology\, and ancillary diagnostics in bone marrow evaluation.\n-Integrate bone marrow findings with clinical and hematologic data to guide diagnostic decision-making \nSpeaker: Francisco Conrado DVM\, MSc\, DACVP (Clinical Pathology)\, Tufts University\, USA\n

SUMMARY:Dermatology\, Session 10
DESCRIPTION:Otitis externa and media in dogs and cats. – Dr. Manolis Saridomichelakis\nOtitis media is one of the perpetuating factors of otitis externa and is especially common in chronic and relapsing cases. Furthermore\, there are some less common cases of otitis media that may not be accompanied by otitis externa\, such as primary otitis media with effusion in dogs and middle ear polyps in cats. Neurological signs and extension of inflammation into the inner ear can occur. Management depends on the cause and differs from that of otitis externa without otitis media \nLearning outcomes:\nRational diagnosis and medical management of dogs and cats with otitis media. \n

SUMMARY:Feline Medicine\, Session 8
DESCRIPTION:Dyspnoea – a challenge that can be managed!\nThe dyspnoeic cat presents a real challenge in clinical practice — and things can easily go wrong. This session explores how blood tests and other diagnostic strategies can help avoid frustration and improve outcomes.\nLearning Objectives:\n– Understand how recognizing breathing patterns can help identify the type of disease\n– Learn an easy approach to interpreting radiographic lung patterns\n– Follow a structured diagnostic pathway for better clinical success\n– Discover how blood tests can narrow down differential diagnoses\nPreparation material:\n• Overview of breathing patterns and how they help localize the problem (including short videos with explanations)\n• Brief introduction to radiographic pulmonary pattern\nLive workshop:\nCase 1: Got the sniffles? The many faces of cat flu. Dyspnoea does not always indicate pulmonary disease — and cat flu is more than just conjunctivitis. Let’s review a case that make us think twice.\nCase 2: Dyspnoea – When furosemide fails. If there’s no response to furosemide\, increasing the dose won’t help. Let’s discuss effective alternatives.\n
