About the ESAVS

The European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) is a non-profit organisation registered in Luxembourg dedicated to the advancement of post-graduate veterinary studies in all disciplines and areas of interest.
It was founded in 1991 as a pilot-project in the frame of the European Union‘s COMETT II programme. Further developments were supported by the LEONARDO DA VINCI programme.
The School‘s umbrella structure is the European Association for Veterinary Specialisation. The ESAVS is an associate member of the FECAVA.

ESAVS training programmes and intensive courses include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, case presentations and laboratory work.
In order to permit a high level of training efficiency, the number of participants per course is limited. Daily lessons include new scientific information and practical exercises in small groups.
Each course is supervised by course masters (tutors) who are specialists of high repute. In general, the teaching language is English.

The first series of ESAVS 3-year training programmes started in 1992 and were successfully completed in spring 1994. Since then, new training programmes have been introduced every year.

So far, the ESAVS had organised 400 residental courses. Over 8.000 veterinarians from 51 countries (26 European countries, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Iceland, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Nicaragua, South-Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, United States of America) attended ESAVS courses in 31 different locations in Europe and Asia.
Over 350 course masters and principal speakers from 20 countries were involved in teaching.

The quality of veterinary art and science proceeds more rapidly nowadays than ever before.
The rise of public medical education has produced an amplified awareness of a broad range of veterinary services. This is demonstrated by an increasing interest in high quality expertise in specific services.
Often today‘s economy permits high quality veterinary procedures which were unthinkable in the past.

Therefore veterinarians, both in practice and at universities, are continuously challenged to upgrade their level of competence in specialist areas.
